Kansas City Region Holds Anointing Mass

Lourdes malade Jack Denzer, Dr. Austin Welsh, K.M. and Mary Welsh, with server carrying the gifts.

 

The Kansas City region held its 20th annual Healing Mass and Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick at Curé of Ars Church on March 5, following the format used for the Lourdes pilgrimage.

 

The Sacrament of Penance was available before Mass and a reception was held after. Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas was the main celebrant. Bishop James V. Johnston of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph, MO delivered the homily. Order of Malta Chaplain Archbishop Emeritus James P. Keleher of the Archdiocese of Kansas City in Kansas con-celebrated the Mass along with 10 priests. They anointed those impaired by illness or old age. More than 200 malades and companions attended, receiving gifts of bottles of Lourdes water.
