Project Lifeline: Together, Saving Children's Lives.

A Guatemalan mother and child await their medicines outside the village pharmacy.
Since 2002, the Order of Malta, Federal Association has partnered with Medicines for Humanity to attack child mortality rates in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and Guatemala. The Federal Association has provided more than $2 million in life-saving medicines which has resulted in the treatment of over 260,000 vulnerable women and children.
For the past two years, the Federal Association has provided the funding and mentoring necessary to initiate a highly successful village pharmacy project in Esquipulas, Guatemala.
Some project highlights to date:
- Those with access to medicine has grown from 14,000 in 2006 to 22,000 in 2008.
- 4,000 children have received the medicines they need.
- More than 4,000 women received the medicines they need.
- 22 small pharmacies are fully operational
- 100 hours of training have been provided to pharmacy aides.
